Pablo Berger’s Robot Dreams, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Sara Varon, is about a lonely Dog and his Robot friend. After spending a wonderful summer together, the two are separated and must find their ways back to each other, or move on with their respective lives. It’s both a slice of life and a poignant tale of a relationship breaking down in a realistic way, but not a complete one. A throwback to animation of years gone by, and a love letter to the New York of the past, Robot Dreams is straightforward, but packed with exciting visual flair.
