On October 31st, 1992, BBC1 aired a special news program about a haunting. It would air only once.
Ghostwatch is often held up alongside War of the Worlds as one of the most successful pranks in the history of broadcast entertainment. An hour and a half television movie starring famous newscasters aired as a special report, Ghostwatch successfully fooled many in the UK into believing they’d just witnessed a real haunting.
How did it work? Would it still work today? Was it a morally ok thing to do in the first place?
