This week on Classic Movies Live!, our hosts are excited to break down the latest from visionary animator Chris Sanders.
Probably best known for Lilo & Stitch (one of Jeff’s favourite movies), and How to Train Your Dragon (widely regarded as one of Dreamworks’ best films), Chris Sanders returns to Dreamworks in 2024 for his fifth directorial effort: The Wild Robot!
Based on the children’s book of the same name by Peter Brown, The Wild Robot stars Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, a robot who takes on a maternal role after finding an orphaned gosling on a strange island. As Roz adapts to her environment, so too does her environment adapt to her, her empathy and compassion gradually spreading across the island. The Wild Robot is a heartwarming story of found family, and, in a way, what it means to be a person.
