This week on Classic Movies Live! our hosts have a pre-recorded conversation about a movie… that just came out.
Based on the novel Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann, The Sheep Detectives features an unlikely group of sleuths investigating a mystery in a small English village. Julie Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, and Chris O’Dowd star as three sheep pooling their collective knowledge of murder mystery novels and investigation to help hapless local police officer Tim Derry (Nicholas Braun) find the person who killed their shepherd.
The Sheep Detectives is fun for the whole family. But behind that initial impression, there’s some surprisingly solid world-building, excellent vocal (and human) performances, and some great messages about never judging a book by its cover.
Also, at one point Conleth Hill nearly falls asleep while trying to count sheep in a field. Funny stuff!
