This week, for the first time in 5 years, Classic Movies Live! is recorded in person with a live studio audience!
Our hosts met up in Toronto and went to the movies, and now they’re here to tell you all the amazing story of the little film that could: Coyote vs. Acme!
Directed by Dave Green and adapted from an article by Ian Frazier, Coyote vs. Acme fuses classic Looney Tunes shenanigans with earnest legal drama as Wile E. Coyote takes his favourite company to court for years of defective products. Though suing the biggest company in the world at first seems a fool’s errand, it quickly becomes clear that Coyote has a pretty solid case… though it might be a more difficult one than his lawyer, Kevin Avery (Will Forte) can handle.
Coyote vs. Acme is reminiscent more of Dark Waters and Erin Brockovich than it is of Looney Tunes Back in Action or Space Jam. And yet, perhaps the unexpected stylistic choice pays off? Did Coyote vs Acme nail what it went for, or are we all being asked to settle?
