The 81st Academy Awards, honouring the films of 2008, was notable for many reasons. Benjamin Button became the ninth movie to get 13 nominations (of which it won 3), Heath Ledger became the second actor to win an award posthumously (and the first for a superhero film), and Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire became the eleventh movie to win Best Picture without any acting nominations.
