The “true story” of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren’s most haunting case, The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as expert ghost hunters who must perform an exorcism for the Perrons, a family of seven in Rhode Island. As they learn more about the ghosts, the Warrens and the Perrons must battle their personal demons, but mostly the quite literal ones that have taken up residence on their lawn!
The Conjuring would go on to spawn two direct sequels and two spin-off series, and became career-defining work for Wan and Wilson. It was also the first entry in a sprawling cinematic universe the likes of which horror hasn’t seen since the Universal Monsters.
