We’re just over halfway through the year, and our hosts might have found the best film of 2024. This week on Classic Movies Live: Twisters!
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters is a legacy sequel — but really more of a spiritual successor — to 1996’s Twister. If you haven’t seen the first one, though, you can still watch this one!
In Twisters, meteorologist Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) returns to her home state of Oklahoma to help her former classmate, Javi (Anthony Ramos) gather data on tornadoes. While there, she meets “Tornado Wrangler” Tyler Owens (Glenn Powell), a YouTuber as passionate about tornadoes as she is, but with a bit less respect for Javi and his more clean-cut, college-educated crew.
Twisters is an incredibly fun movie, with just the right blend of science, romance, and action to make the perfect summer blockbuster experience. It’s also the poster child for the up-and-coming 4DX film format.
