This week on Classic Movies Live, our hosts talk about a Sundance darling that recently exploded into the mainstream. From hit director Olivia Wilde comes the movie everyone is talking about: The Invite!
Adapted by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones from the 2020 film The People Upstairs by Cesc Gay, The Invite stars Wilde and Seth Rogen as a couple with marital problems who over invite their upstairs neighbours — played by Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton. Over the course of the night, will this get-together result in new couples’ friends, a blowup over the neighbours’ loud nighttime activities, or something else altogether?
